SANGSAD BHABAN, Jan 28, 2020 (BSS) – Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the government is taking action to stop unregistered easy bikes and battery-powered rickshaws plying on the street across the country.

“The government is taking necessary action against the plying of the easy bikes and battery-powered rickshaws which are being plied illegally on the street,” said the minister while responding to a star-marked question made by M Faridul Haq Khan of Jamalpur-2 in the House here.

Quader told the parliament that the break and steering system of the battery-powered auto-rickshaws is not safe and up to the mark, so the mobile court including the Police administration are working to stop the plying of these vehicles on the street.

The High Court division already has banned these types of vehicles on the street and highways in Faridpur, Madaripur, Rajbari, Khulna and Barishal, he told the House.

Earlier, the government has banned the Easy Bikes and battery-powered auto-rickshaws on the national and regional highways on October 08 in 2012, he added.
