Govt committed to ensure child-friendly environment: KCC mayor

KHULNA, Jan 28, 2020 (BSS) – Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khalek has said the present government is implementing various programmes to ensure child-friendly environment and facilities of all children for their education, healthcare, food, nutrition and shelter as per the UN Charter for children rights.

He was speaking on Monday afternoon as the chief guest at an Orientation programme titled “Necessary social behavior and changing habit and attitude for children development,” at the Shaheed Altaf auditorium of KCC building.

Khulna City Corporation organised the day-long orientation programme in cooperation with UNICEF and Bangladesh Betar-Khulna Center.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KCC Palash Kanti Bala presided over the event while KCC Panel Mayor Ali Akbar Tipu, Councilor Sheikh Hafizur Rahman, Chief conservancy officer Engineer Abdul Aziz, Chief Health officer Dr. AKM Abdullah, Executive Magistrate Khan Masum Billah, Professor Dr. Ashiq- ur -Rahman of Khulna University, Assistant Director of Bangladesh Betar-Khulna Center Md. Mamun Akhtar, and Development Officer of UNICEF-Khulna Division Umme Halima, among others, were present.

Mayor Khaleque highly appreciated the epoch-making initiatives taken by the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for ensuring universal rights of all children for their normal growth, education, healthcare and entertainment.

There must be diverse scopes for children to grow up as self-dependent citizens at every sphere of life as they are the future leaders to take up the helm of affairs in all disciplines in a society as well as a country or even beyond, he added.
