Mild heat wave sweeping over country’s southern parts

DHAKA, June 9, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in a
weather forecast today said a mild heat wave is sweeping over the regions of
Khulna, Satkhira and Jashore and it is likely to abate in 24 hours as of 9 am
tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or
squally wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at most places over
Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet and Dhaka divisions and at a few places
over Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions during the period,” the
forecast added.

Moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall is also likely to occur at places
over Barishal and Chattogram divisions while day and night temperature may
fall by 1-3 degrees Celsius over the country during the period.

The maximum temperature was recorded 36.5 degrees Celsius yesterday at
Satkhira in Khulna division and today’s minimum temperature 24.5 degrees
Celsius at Srimangal in Sylhet division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 56
mm at Khepupara in Barishal division.

The sun sets at 6:45 pm today and rises at 5:10 am tomorrow in the capital.
