Muktamoni’s surgery on Saturday

DHAKA, August 5, 2017 (BSS) – Physicians of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) has taken a decision to operate surgery on Muktamoni’s right hand on Saturday as a toumour has been detected in her blood vessels.

A 13-member medical board today took the decision after reviewing the biopsy report this morning.

“As per the biopsy results, she has a tumour in her blood vessels on the right hand and the surgery will be conducted to remove it,” Dr M Mahbubur Rahman of Surgery Department of the DMCH told BSS.

Muktamoni, a 10-year-old girl of Kamarbaisa village in Satkhira sadar upazila, was admitted to the public hospital on July 11 with a malignant growth on her right arm.

When Muktamoni was about 18-month-old, a wart appeared on her right arm, said Dr Rahman.

According to her father Ibrahim, a grocery shop owner of Kamarbaisa village in Sadar upazila, Muktamoni and her twin sister Hiramoni were a pair of healthy baby girls after their birth.

After publish of reports over Muktamoni’s health condition in different media, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken responsibility of her treatment.
