DHAKA, Jan 26, 2020 (BSS) – About 85 percent people of the country are
satisfied on the present Awami League government, led by Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina, according a new survey of Research International (RI).
The opinion poll was carried out randomly selected on 5,429 mobile phone
users on the first year activities of the present government. The findings of
the survey were revealed at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club in the
capital today.
Research International Chief Executive Officer and Australia Expatriate
Researcher Abul Hasnat Milton, its chief coordinator Kazi Ahmad Parvez and
coordinating officer Mosharraf Hossain were present, among others, at the
press conference.
About 80 percent respondents of the poll said the first year of the
government’s present term is better than its previous one while only three
percent respondents expressed dissatisfaction over the activities of the
government.
Speaking at the press conference, researcher Milton said the prime minister
in her address on January 7 last asked the countrymen to keep trust in her
government and 86 percent respondents said they kept trust on it as only
three percent did not keep trust on her government and 11 percent respondents
did not answer during the poll.
During the poll, when asked about the successful ministries of the
government, around 30 percent respondents said the education ministry is most
successful one, followed by the road transport and bridges ministry (28
percent) and the ICT ministry (9 percent).
About 36 percent respondents indentified Road Transport and Bridges
Minister Obaidul Quader as the most successful and skilled minister, followed
by Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni (29 percent).
Around 65 percent respondents did not show interest to make comments on the
activities of BNP, while 25 percent respondents expressed dissatisfaction
over BNP and only six percent were satisfied over its activities.
About 48 percent respondents think that there should be a strong opposition
party in the country as 11 percent did not think so and 20 percent
respondents declined to answer.
Citing the survey findings, Milton said BNP is losing its importance in
politics day by day and during the poll, respondents also showed less
interest to talk about Jatiya Party.
