68,038 disaster tolerable houses to be built for poor; Enamur

DHAKA, Jan 23, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr. Md Enamur Rahman today said the government will build 68,038 disaster tolerable houses for destitute people in every village of the country following the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The minister was addressing as chief guest at the closing ceremony of two months long Basic Training program of Project Implementation Officers (PIO) organized by Department of Disaster Management (DDM).

The Minister said a total of taka 2,99,860 will be spent to make a house. The construction work of houses will start from March 2020 and it will end in March 2021, he added.

He said the government has plans to construct 60 lakh more houses from time to time in entire of the country for the poor people.

Chaired by Director General of DDM Md Mohsin, Senior Secretary of the Ministry Md Shah Kamal, among others spoke on the occasion.

The State Minister urged the PIO to make effective contribution with their knowledge achieved during the training to face the disaster.
