President, PM for national archives to preserve real history

DHAKA, June 8, 2018 (BSS) – President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today laid emphasis on national archives for preserving real history, research papers, data and important documents.

In separate messages, on the eve of the International Archives Day-2018, they said the national archive project important historical documents, which eventually help intellectuals, researchers as well as all levels of people.

The theme of this year’s International Archives Day is “Archives: Governance, Memory and Heritage”.

The President said National Archives of Bangladesh is making a valuable contribution to build a digital Bangladesh through taking technological advantage to conserve import documents, data and historical facts.

He urged all to extend their cooperation to build National Archives of Bangladesh as modern one for the well-being of the nation.

In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established National Archives of Bangladesh in 1972 for preserving historical facts, heritages and cultures.

She said, “We have built the National Archives Bhaban at Agargaon in the city. I hope the National Archives of Bangladesh will emerge as one of rich archives in South Asia.”
