Services to be brought under central monitoring system: Atiqul
DHAKA, Jan 19, 2020 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) mayoral candidate for the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Atiqul Islam today said all essential services will be brought under central monitoring system aiming to ensure civic amenities in Dhaka.
“All essential services will be brought under the purview of central monitoring system to ensure civic amenities for making Dhaka a smart city,” he said.
He said this while talking to journalists before conducting his electoral campaign in city’s Kallyanpur area.
By one year, he said, the whole DNCC areas will be brought under closed circuit cameras to make the city women-friendly.
With an aim to build an ‘Enlightened Dhaka’, a total of 42,000 lights will be installed in the city, he said, adding that after doing so, the whole area will be brought under a strong network which will enable the law enforces get necessary information using online security based applications (Apps).
Pledging to make a corruption free city corporation, he said no taxpayer will face difficulties at regional executive offices while giving holding taxes as people can now pay their taxes via online.
“If elected in city polls slated for February 1, I will hold monthly ward-meeting with people to get complaints directly against councillors including me also,” he said, adding that, thus, all will be brought under proper accountability in the city.
Hailing Election Commission (EC)’s decision regarding deferral of city corporation polls date considering ‘Saraswati Puja’, he said due to the new date, the city polls will be held in further competitive and acceptable manner.
He urged city dwellers to cast their votes for ‘Boat’, the party symbol of AL, to give him the opportunities to serve them in the days to come.
He sought cooperation of leaders and workers of the party during the ongoing polls-campaign to further strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Reminding all about the AL’s development endeavours, he said, ‘Boat’ symbolises ‘development gear’, it does not have back gear.
He also sought cooperation of people to make a planned Dhaka city.
Leaders and activists of AL, Jubo League and Chhatra League accompanied Atiqul during the campaign.
