4,000 patients receive free treatment, medicines at Shariatpur

SHARIATPUR, Jan 17, 2020 (BSS) – District Unit Awami League (AL) and Begum Ashrafunnesa, mother of AKM Enamul Hoque Shamim, Foundation today organised a daylong health camp and provided treatment and medicines to 4,000 patients free of cost.

Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shamim inaugurated the
health camp as the chief guest at Shakhipur under Bhedarganj upazila of the
district to mark the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The camp was organised for the unprivileged people of the remote char areas
of North Tarabunia and South Tarabunia unions to mark the birth centenary of
Bangabandhu, he said.

“We will continue the health campaign every month as part of the ‘Mujib
Year’ programme as the present government has been working relentlessly to
ensure the health facilities of the common people,” he said.

A team of 40 specialized doctors led by Cardiac Surgeon of the National
Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Dr Ashraful Hoque Sium has
provided the health services from 9am to 5 pm of the day.

Civil Surgeon of Shariatpur, Zila Parishad Chairman and AL Shariatpur
district unit General Secretary Anal Kumar Dey, Bhedarjang Upazila Parishad
Chairman Humayun Kabir Mollah, Naria Upazila Parishad Chairman AKM Ismail Huq
were present, among others.

“All the doctors have given free treatment and medicines at the health camp
after carrying out electrocardiogram (ECG) and blood tests of the patients,”
Dr Sium said.
