DHAKA, Jan 15, 2020 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today urged writers, translators and litterateurs to work unitedly to help reach the fruits of country’s hard-earned Independence to grassroots people.

“Country’s Independence is our greatest achievement . . . So you (writers) will have to work unitedly to reach the fruits of Independence to doorsteps of all grassroots people,” he said.

The head of the state said this while a delegation of young writers, translators and litterateurs paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban here this evening.

The President advised them to inspire new generation to uphold the spirit of the 1971 Liberation War and ideals of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS after the meeting.

“The writers, translators and litterateurs can uphold many positive things through their writings . . . They can also bring a positive change in the behavioural attitude of people,” he opined.

Noting that the country in the meantime tremendously advanced in many sectors, President Hamid said this ongoing development trend is being acclaimed by the world community.

“But we need to have positive mindset as well as decent behaviour, he mentioned.

“When we go abroad we are reputed for abiding by the rules and regulations there. But if we follow the same thing inside the country, Bangladesh will achieve more development,” he observed.
