Information minister now in New Delhi on 4-day visit

NEW DELHI, Jan 13, 2020 (BSS) – Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud
arrived here this evening on a four-day official visit to inaugurate
broadcasting programme between Prasar Bharati, the public service
broadcaster in India and Bangladesh Betar tomorrow.

He will also hold bilateral meeting with the Information and Broadcasting
Minister of India Prakash Javadekar tomorrow morning.

During the meeting, the two ministers are expected to discuss various
issues including further strengthening people-to-people contact and
increasing cultural cooperation between the people of the two neighbouring
countries.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the films development
corporations of the two countries is likely to be signed on producing a
documentary on Bangladesh’s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman.

Besides, the information minister will visit Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad
on Wednesday to gather experience aimed at upgrading Bangabandhu Film City in
Bangladesh to an international standard modern film city.

The minister is scheduled to join a dinner to be hosted by Bangladesh High
Commission at its premises in his honour. He is accompanied by the senior
officials of the ministry, Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Film Development
Corporation (BFDC).

Bangladesh Television, the state-owned TV channel, had started telecasting
its programmes across India through Doordarshan, India for the first time in
Bangladesh’s history on September 2, last year after Dr Hasan Mahmud took
over the charge of the ministry of Information.
