Mother, son killed in launch collision in Barishal
BARISHAL, Jan 13, 2020 (BSS) – A mother and her six-year-old son were
killed and three others injured in a collision between two launches at Majhir
char under Hijla upazila of the district in the early hours of today.
The deceased were identified as Mahmuda Begum, 35, and her son Momin.
The collision took place at around 12.30 am when Kirtankhola launch
collided head-on with another launch named Farhan-9, according to Bangladesh
Inland Water Transport Association (BIWTA). BIWTA sources said the incident
occurred due to foggy weather and poor visibility.
The injured were shifted to Dhaka for better treatment.
