Allocation for child budget increases by Taka 10,000 crore

DHAKA, June 7, 2018 (BSS)- Finance Minister AMA Muhith today proposed an allocation of Taka 65,650 crore for children development under Child Focused Budget (CFB) of fiscal 2018-19, which is Taka 9,750 crore more than that of the budget of outgoing fiscal 2017-18.

The finance minister made the proposal while placing the national budget for 2018-19 fiscal in the Jatiya Sangsad this afternoon with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Muhith placed separate allocations for the selected eight ministries and seven divisions of the government under CFB for 2018-19 fiscal.

The minister said allocations to the selected eight ministries and seven divisions have increased by 11.7 percent in 2018-19 fiscal comparing to the outgoing fiscal. The proposed allocation for child development was Taka 55,900 crore in the 2017-18 fiscal.

The percentage of the allocation for the children has increased to 14.13 percent of the total national budget in the upcoming fiscal from 13.97 percent in the outgoing fiscal, he added.

The eight selected ministries are – Primary and Mass Education, Women and Children Affairs, Disaster Management and Relief, Social Welfare Ministry, Information, Labour and Employment, Cultural Affairs, Youth and Sports while the seven divisions are Technical and Madrasah Education, Secondary and Higher Education, Medical Education and Family Welfare, Health Service, Local Government, Public Security Division and Law and Justice.
