Outgoing Sri Lankan envoy calls on President

DHAKA, Jan 7, 2020 (BSS) – The outgoing Sri Lankan High Commissioner to
Bangladesh Crisanthe De Silva called on President M Abdul Hamid at
Bangabhaban here this evening.

“During the meeting, the President appreciated proactive role of Sri Lankan
high commissioner in strengthening bilateral relations between the two south
Asian nations,” President’s press secretary M Joynal Abedin told BSS.

He said the President expressed his satisfaction with the existing
Bangladesh-Sri Lanka bilateral relation, adding that there are many
similarities between two countries in many issues, including arts and
culture.

Noting that the existing trade and investment relation between Bangladesh
and Sri Lanka is very excellent, Abdul Hamid hoped that these bilateral ties
would further strengthened in the days to come.

The head of the state also urged the outgoing high commissioner to play
due role in utilising the commercial potentials of the two countries.

President Hamid also stressed on more visit-exchanges of business leaders
or representatives between the friendly countries.

The Sri Lankan envoy expressed his gratitude to the President for giving
his continuous support during his assignment here.

The envoy added that his country always gives importance to friendly
relation with Bangladesh and invested meantime about $500 million here.

The Sri Lankan high commissioner expressed his hope that his country is
keen to invest more here
