Bangladesh crush Thailand in ACC T20 Asia Cup

DHAKA, June 7, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh women’s team continued their winning streak in the ACC T20 Asia Cup as they crushed Thailand by 9 wickets in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia today.

Following their magnificent victories against Pakistan and India earlier in the tournament, it was the third consecutive win for the Tigresses who restricted Thailand to 60 and eventually chased down the target in 11.1 overs with nine wickets in hand.

Invited to bat first by Bangladesh, Thailand managed to score 60 for 8 in 20 overs following an all-round bowling performance from the Tigresses, who had all their bowlers grabbing at least one wicket.

Salma Khatun and Nahida Akhter were the pick of the bowlers, taking two wickets each. Thailand lost their way in the beginning losing seven wickets with 39 runs in the scoreboard.

Only three players were able to reach the double digit as Nattaya Boochatham’s 15, captain Sornnarin Tippoch’s 13 and a 17-ball 14 from Sirintra Saengsakaorat late in the innings helped Thailand to bat their 20 overs.

The chase was clinical, finished off in just 11 overs without much fuss. Opener Ayasha Rahman and No. three batter Nigar Sultana both scored 25 runs from 28 deliveries to seal the win.
