87th birth anniversary of Bangamata tomorrow

DHAKA, Aug 7, 2017 (BSS)-The 87th birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be observed tomorrow.

The ruling party Awami League (AL) has chalked out elaborate programmes to mark the day. The party will place wreaths at her grave at Banani graveyard in the capital at 8:30am and organise quran-khani, milad and doa-mahfil for salvation of her departed soul.

Begum Fazilatunnesa was born at Tungipara village of Gopalganj district on the day in 1930.

She was assassinated with her husband Bangabandhu and most of her family members by a disgruntled group of army officers on August 15, 1975.

Awami Swechasebak League will organise a discussion on the premises of Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi 32 at 11am.

Awami League Presidium Member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim will attend the function as the chief guest.

Dhaka city north and south units of Awami League will organise a discussion and offer a doa mahfil at party’s central office at Bangabandhu Avenue after the Asar prayers.

Awami Jubo League will organise a discussion at Shilpakala Academy at 10 am marking the birth anniversary.

Apart from this, Jubo Mahila League will also arrange a discussion at Shilpakala Academy auditorium at 4pm on the occasion.

Meanwhile, a blood donation camp and discussion will be held at the medical centre of Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat at 11 am.

Chief Whip of Jatiaya Sangsad ASM Feroz is expected to inaugurate the event.

Awami League General Secretary and also Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader urged leaders and workers of the ruling party and its associated bodies for observing the birth anniversary of Begum Mujib across the country in a befitting manner.
