Construction work of 36 pillars out of 42 of Padma Bridge completed

MUNSHIGANJ, Jan 6, 2020 (BSS) – Construction work of 36 pillars out of 42
for the 6.15-kilometre long Padma Bridge has been completed while 3
kilometers main structure of the bridge have already been visible with the
installation of the 20th span on December 31 last.

Of the remain six pillars, construction work of the pillars no 8, 10, 11
and 29 will be completed by February while the pillars no 26 and 27 will be
built by April this year, Executive Engineer of the Padma Bridge project
Dewan Abdul Kader told BSS today.

Besides, the 21st span ‘6-B’ of the bridge will be installed on January 12
on the 32nd and 33rd pillars at the Jazira point, he said.

He added: “From now, there is a plan to install three spans in every month.
If the spans can be installed maintain the schedule (plan), installation of
41 spans will be completed by July 2021”.

The span ‘F-1’ will be installed on the 6th and 7th pillars soon while the
span ‘1-E’ is due to be installed on the 4th and 5th pillars at the Mawa
point on January 20 and the span ‘6-A’ on 21st and 22nd pillars on January
30, Kader said.

Besides, works of installing railway slab under the installed spans and
roadway slabs on the spans are progressing fast, he added.
