DHAKA, Dec 30, 2019 (BSS)-Despite keeping them in good stead to seal the play-off berth of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL), Chattogram Challengers guarded against the complacency, knowing that a defeat could ruin the momentum and leave them in an uncertain state.
Chattogram currently leads the point table with 12 points from eight games and only a victory in the remaining four matches would ensure their play-off.
As they take on Cumilla Warriors tomorrow (Tuesday), they said they
wouldn’t afford to be relaxed, by thinking that they have some matches still
in hands. They said they also couldn’t be relaxed by mulling Cumilla Warriors
as an easy opponent as they have been in a perpetual defeat in the
tournament.
They believe rather they need to keep the winning momentum as losing it
might have an adverse impact in the play-off.
”In T20 cricket momentum is very important and we are playing well and
have the momentum with us,” Chattogram wicket-keeper batsman Nurul Hasan
Sohan said here today. ”We want to finish the tournament on a good note and
book our place in the play-off. We think the play-off is very important and
if we lose one or two games at this stage it can have an adverse impact on
the playoff,” he added.
He continued: ”Here playing as a team is important whether it is in T20
format or any other format and I am feeling so far we are playing as a team.
You can see every player is contributing whether it is by scoring 10 runs or
50 runs or maybe by taking two wickets or bowling one good over for our team
and we are doing well for this unified effort.”
Sohan said that they are missing the captaincy of Mahmudullah as he is
unavailable for the hamstring injury and added that they are expecting him to
be available in some of the matches before the playoff.
“Mahmudullah is very important part of our team and we are missing his
captaincy,” he said.
”We are hoping to have the service of Mahmudullah in one or two matches
before the play-off,” he concluded.
