DHAKA, Dec 29, 2019 – (BSS) – Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmud today said no corruption would be tolerated in the education sector in the greater interest of the country.

“ACC has taken zero tolerance policy against graft . . . Corruption in the education sector won’t be tolerated,” he said while speaking at a view-exchange meeting with the district-level officers at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Moulvibazar.

The chief of anti-graft commission said proper education can show the new generation a specific guideline in developing morality amongst them.

Citing the ACC laws as tough and strong, Mahmud said the concerned officials are not fully aware of its laws. “If everybody knows the ACC laws, he or she won’t show the audacity of indulging in corruption,” he mentioned.

Poverty has a close relation with corruption, he said, adding that it is quite impossible to remove poverty as well as corruption fully from the society, but it can be kept at a desired level.

Referring to some 40 lakh complaints submitted to the commission in last two years, the ACC boss questioned, “What does it indicate?”

Negligence or inability of the government officials remained behind these huge allegations, but this would not be accepted at all, he told the officers.

Deputy Commissioner Nazia Shirin presided over the programme.
