DBBL gives scholarship to 3018 students

DHAKA, Dec 28, 2019 (BSS) – Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) today awarded scholarships among 3,018 meritorious and underprivileged students, who passed HSC or equivalent exams this year.

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq inaugurated the programme as the chief guest by handing over the scholarship among students at Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in city’s Mirpur area.

Managing Director of DBBL Abul Kashem Md Shirin spoke at the programme with Chairman of DBBL’s board of directors Sayem Ahmed in the chair.

Speaking as chief guest, the law minister said, “Student is the driving force to build digital Bangladesh and they are the main strength to realize the dream of ‘Sonar Bangla’ dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”

Emphasizing the support of non government organisation in spreading education, he said, “Ensuring quality education for all is our national responsibility”.

“Our goal is to promote Bangladesh to a developed country within 2041. Quality education is a must to this end as it’s the tool for survival in the competitive world,” he added.

Appreciating DBBL’s initiative, the minister said such scholarship programme is a unique example of helping the meritorious and poor students. He expected that other institutions would come forward with such support.

DBBL, under its social program, has been awarding the scholarships to the meritorious students in need of financial aid studying at different levels of education since its inception.
