RAJSHAHI, Dec 26, 2019 (BSS)- A two-day reunion celebration of the HSC alumnus of Rajshahi College, one of the oldest and largest educational institutions in the country, will start tomorrow amidst joy and enthusiasm.

Established in 1873, the college is going to host this type of festival
for its old and current students for the first time in its long history.

So far, more than 10,000 persons including some 8,400 alumnus from 1947 to 2021 have registered their names to attend the celebration, said Prof Habibur Rahman, Principal of the college.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni is expected to attend the opening
ceremony as chief guest while State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar
Alam and State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak as special
guests.

Prof Rahman added that Rajshahi College has been adjudged as the
country’s best educational institution for the fourth consecutive year for
its outstanding performance in the academic arena since 2016.

The Ministry of Education in the National Education Week-2019
Competition held last June has ranked the college as the country’s best
institution.

Professor Rahman also said every year the education ministry brings all
the colleges throughout the country under ranking in terms of its 19
indicators including number of students and their results, number of the
highest degree-holding teachers, college environment, water and sanitation.

National University also declared the college as the countries best one
based on its ranking. It is said to be the third oldest institutions of
higher education in Bangladesh after Dhaka College and Chittagong College.

Within a short period after its establishment in 1873, the college
became one of the main centres of higher education for the inhabitants of
East Bengal, North Bengal, Bihar and Assam.
