DHAKA, Dec 23, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Awami League will start distribution of nomination forms from tomorrow among the party’s interested mayoral candidates for the polls to the Dhaka north and south city corporations.
The form can be collected from party president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office from 10am to 5pm on December 24, 25, 26 and 27, said an AL press release today.
AL also asks the interested candidates to submit their nomination forms to Prime Minister’s Dhanmondi political office within 5pm on December 27.
The polls of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will be held on January 30 next.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda announced the election schedule at a press conference held at the Agargaon Nirbachan Bhaban here following the EC’s 57th commission meeting yesterday.
As per the schedule, the last date for nomination paper submission is December 31, nomination paper scrutiny will be held on January 2 and the deadline for candidature withdrawal is January 9.
Voting at all centres of the two city corporations will be held with electronic voting machines (EVMs).
