Light to moderate rain likely over country

DHAKA, June 6, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD)
today predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by
temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes over the country in 24 hours as of
9 am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty
wind and lightning flashes is likely to occur at many places over Chattogram
and Sylhet divisions, at a few places over Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka,
Khulna and Barishal divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur division
with moderately heavy falls at places over the country by 9 am tomorrow,” a
BMD press release said.

Southwest monsoon has set on over Chattogram, Sylhet, Mymensingh and
Dhaka divisions, the release said, adding that conditions are favorable for
further advancement of southwest monsoon. Westerly low lies over Bihar and
adjoining area, extending its trough to North-west Bay.

Day and night temperature may remain unchanged over the country during
the period.

The maximum temperature was recorded 36.1 degrees celsius yesterday at
Rajarhat in Rangpur division and today’s minimum temperature is 23.5 degrees
Celsius in Sylhet.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded
53 mm at Khepupara in Barishal.

The sun sets today at 6:44 pm and rises at 5:10 am tomorrow in the
capital.
