Gazipur Factory fire claims 10 lives
GAZIPUR, Dec 15, 2019 (BSS) – At least 10 workers were burnt to death and 15 others injured in a fire that broke out at a fan factory in Gazipur this evening.
The identities of the workers could not be known immediately as their bodies were charred during the fire incident.
Being informed, a total of four units of fire-fighters rushed to the ‘Luxury Fan Factory’, a 3-storey tin-shed building located in Harinal area of Gazipur where the fire broke out around 5:45pm, said Mamunur Rashid, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Following one and half hours relentless effort, the fire-fighters brought the blaze under control around 7.15pm and recovered the charred bodies of the workers from the factory, he added.
The origin of the fire is yet to be known. The injured are being given treatment at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur.
