DU observes World Environment Day today

DHAKA, June 5, 2018 (BSS) – With the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” Dhaka
University (DU) here today observed the ‘World Environment Day 2018’ in a
befitting manner.

Dhaka University Environment Society brought out a colourful rally on the
campus and organised a discussion at Center for Advanced Research in Social
Science of DU marking the day.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Muhammad Samad addressed the programme as the
chief guest.

Urging the youth to play their due role to protect the environment, Prof
Samad said, “The youth should carry out social movement against those who are
polluting the environment in various ways. Economic and social development of
the country depends on active participation of the youths. ”

Later, Prof Samad gave away certificates and crests to the participants who
attended the “Disaster Management and Safety Workshop”.

Director of Disaster Research, Training and Management Center Professor Dr
A Q M Mahbub and DU Environment Society Adviser Dr A K Lutful Kabir addressed
the programme as special guests while the Environment Society president
Mohammad Hossain chaired the function.
