DHAKA, Dec 13, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Saida Muna Tasneem has called upon the Bangladeshi-British entrepreneurs to increase their investment in the IT sector of Bangladesh.

“There are currently about six lakh IT-based freelancers in Bangladesh.
By using them, British-Bangladeshi entrepreneurs can strengthen their
business relationship with the country,” she said while speaking at a
function, marking the ‘Digital Bangladesh Day-2019’ at the Bangladesh High Commission in London on Thursday, said a press release here today.

Saida Muna Tasneem informed that Bangladesh High Commission has taken an initiative to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UK in the next year regarding the IT sector.

The High Commissioner hoped that the MoU will open the door for further strengthening relations between the two countries.

She also informed that the Bangladesh government is offering various
incentives to foreign investors in the field of IT.

“Investors of the UK can invest in Bangladesh and boost their business
through taking the incentives,” she added.

Referring to the theme of this year ”Verify the accuracy before sharing
on the internet”, she said almost half of the information and news, which are being exchanged through various social media platforms, are unfounded rumours.

So, before sharing anything through social media, she urged everyone to verify the accuracy.

Bangladeshi-British IT professionals and representatives of IT companies
took part in the event.
