Bangabandhu’s 7 March speech induced fight against Pakistanis: Amu

SAVAR, Aug 2, 2017 (BSS) – Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu today said Bangladesh achieved independence in 1971 through a nine-month-long bloody war following Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s historic 7 March speech that encouraged the countrymen to fight against Pakistani occupation forces.

“Bangabandhu’s 17-minute speech at the Suhrawardy Udyan on March 7 before the War of Liberation highly inspired the mass people to build resistance against the Pakistani evil forces,” the minister said, addressing a discussion on Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus here as the chief guest.

JU authority organized the discussion tiled “Bangabandhu and Bangladesh” at Jahir Raihan auditorium on the campus to mark the National Mourning day.

The minister said the devil forces, which killed Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members, are still hatching conspiracy against the country’s independence.

He urged followers of Bangabandhu to come forward to resist these anti- liberation forces.

JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam chaired the meeting while Simeen Hussain Rimi, MP, was the special guest.

Former JU Vice-Chancellor and former member of the Public Service Commission Professor Shariff Enamul Kabir presented a key-note paper in the discussion while JU Pro-VC Professor Abul Hossain delivered the welcome speech at the function.

JU Pro-VC (academic) Professor Amir Hussain and Treasure Professor Sheikh Manzarul Huq were present in the function, among others.
