Scrutiny underway to identify fake freedom fighters: minister

KHULNA, August 02, 2017(BSS) – Liberation War Affair Minister A K M Mozammel Haque has said a scrutiny of the freedom fighters list was underway and people who would be proved fake would face stern actions.

“A process to scrutinize the freedom fighters list is underway,” he said while exchanging views with freedom fighters late yesterday after inauguration of Fultala Upazila Muktijuddha Complex Building at this southwestern industrial city.

Haque added: “Anyone turned out to be fake freedom fighters in the process would face the due consequences.” The minister simultaneously referred to various government steps for freedom fighters’ welfare and added that a total of 470 Muktijuddha Complexes would be built in upazila levels.

State Minister for Fisheries and Live Stock Naryan Chandra Chanda, amomg others attended the function organized by Fultala Upazila Muktijuddha Sangsad with deputy commissioner of Khulna Amin ul Ahsan in the chair.

Fultala Upazila Parishad Chairman Sheikh Akram Hossain, Additional DIG of Khulna Range Police Md. Habibur Rahman, Project Director of the complex Abdul Hakim, Additional Police Super S M Shafiullah, Khulna District and City Unit Commandar of Bangladesh Muktijuddha Sangsad Sardar Mahbubur Rahman and Professor Alamgir Kabir spoke on the occasion.

Upazila Muktijuddha Commandar Kazi Zafar Ahmed delivered the welcome speech while Fultala upazila UNO and freedom fighters also attended the meeting.

The minister said Bangladesh’s Independence and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman are inseparable and Liberation War could not take place if Bangabandhu was not born.

He, however, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for turning the country into Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
