DHAKA, Dec 11, 2019 (BSS) –The fire that broke out at a plastic factory at Hijaltola in Dakkhin Keraniganj this afternoon claimed one life as the fire-fighters extinguished the blaze after about one and half hours.
“The fire was brought under control around 5.45 pm today by 12 units of fire-fighters. However one person was killed in the blaze,” said Ershad Hossain, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters.
“The fire originated from a factory due to explosion of a gas cylinder, leaving one person dead and at least 25 others injured,” he added.
Some 18 injured were identified so far. They were: Foysal, 29, Jahangir, 52, Basir, 20, Foysal, 35, Durjoy Sarker, Sumon Islam,25, Mehedy,20, Asad, 23, Md Siraj,50, Sajid,29, Jinarul Hossain,32, Sakhawat,30, Abu Sayeed,16,Sohan, 16, Md Babul,25, Zakir Hossain Matobbor, 22, Alam,22 and Abbur Razzaque,42.
Currently, all the injured are receiving treatment at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in the capital.
