Met office predicts rain with thunderstorms

DHAKA, June 5, 2018 (BSS) – Light to moderate rain or thundershowers
accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes are
likely to occur at some places across the country in the next 24 hours ending
at 9 am tomorrow.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty
wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at a few places over Khulna,
Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions,” said a met bulletin issued
this morning here.

Moreover, one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions
may see moderately heavy falls in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am today,
the bulletin added.

Southwest monsoon has set on over Chattogram, Sylhet, Mymensingh and Dhaka
divisions as Conditions are favorable for further advancement of southwest
monsoon.

Westerly low lies over Bihar and adjoining area, extending its trough to
North-west Bay, it continued.

Day and night temperature may rise slightly over the country, it added.

The maximum temperature was recorded 36.8 degrees Celsius yesterday at
Jashore in Khulna division and today’s minimum temperature 23.4 degrees
Celsius at Bhola in Barishal division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am today was recorded 51
mm at Feni in Chattogram division.

The sun sets at 6:43 pm today and rises at 5:11 am tomorrow in the capital.
