Gaibandha observes freedom day

GAIBANDHA, DEC 07, 2019 (BSS) – People from all walks of life today
observed the Freedom Day amid great enthusiasm as valiant freedom fighters
(FFs) freed the district town from the clutches of Pakistan occupation forces
on the day in 1971.

Freedom fighters (FFs) liberated Gaibandha town defeating the Pakistan
occupation forces who entered Gaibandha town on April 17, 1971 and stationed
themselves at wireless office and then Helal Park now it is Shah Abdul Hamid
Stadium.

On the occasion, a grand rally organised by Gaibandha Hanadar Mukta Dibash
Udjapan Committee (GHMDUC) was brought out around 11am from Parbapara that
ended in Independence Square after parading main roads of the town in
cooperation with district administration.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin inaugurated the rally as the chief
guest.

Later, a discussion was also held at the stage of Independence Square of
the town with freedom fighter Mahmudul Haque Sahjada, coordinator of GHMDUC,
in the chair.

DC Abdul Matin addressed the function as the chief guest while Mahbub
Elahi Ranju, Bir Protik, was the chief discussant at the meeting.

A large number of FFs and their children, including journalists
participated in the programmes.
