NEW DELHI, Dec 6, 2019 (BSS) – All the four people arrested on charge of
gruesome gang-rape and murder of a young veterinarian in India’s Telangana
State were killed in an encounter with police in the early hours of today.

“The accused were killed in a police encounter at Chatanpally, Shadnagar
in the wee hours, between 3 am and 6 am today,” news agency ANI reported
quoting VC Sajjanar, Cyberabad Police Commissioner.

The four men – Mohammed Arif, 26, Jollu Shiva, 20, Jollu Naveen, 20, and
Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu, 20 – were taken to the scene of the crime around
3:00am (IST) as part of investigations, according to police.

However, people gathered at the “encounter” site congratulated police
showering flower petals on them for the killing of four accused of the women
veterinarian rape and murder case. They were shouting slogans hailing the
police personnel.

“We got justice…this action would act as a deterrent for people from
committing such crimes,” the people, who gathered at the encounter scene
said, according to media reports.

“I am extremely happy with this punishment. Police has done a great job
and I demand that no action should be taken against the police personnel,”
said the rape victim’s mother while talking to NDTV.

The charred body of the young women veterinarian, 25, was found under a
culvert at Shadnagar near Hyderabad on November 28, a day after she went
missing.

This gruesome killing triggered outrage across India and people from all
walks of lives demanded capital punishment of the killers.
