Bangladesh cross Sri Lanka hurdle in SAG Football

KATHMANDU, Dec 5, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Olympic football team crossed major hurdle as they beat Sri Lanka by a lone goal in their must win match of the ongoing 13th South Asian Games Football held on Thursday at Dasarath Rangasala Stadium.

With the day’s win, Bangladesh improved their tally with four points and they must have to win their last match against host Nepal to stay in the race of championship the Bangladesh-Nepal crucial match is scheduled to be held on December 8.

In the day’s match, Mahbubur Rahman Sufil scored the all important for Bangladesh in the 12nd minute and the winning team maintained their lead till the final whistle.

Sri Lanka however tried hard to stage a fight back in the match but they failed convert goals lack of proper finishing

Earlier, Bangladesh suffered a shocking solitary goal defeat to Bhutan in their opening match and in the second match they were forced to play a 1-1 goal draw by Maldives, despite taking early lead.

The top two teams will lock horn in the final scheduled to be held on December 10 at the same venue.
