Academic activities of BUET to resume Dec 28

DHAKA, Dec 04, 2019 (BSS) – Academic activities including classes and examinations of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) will resume on December 28 as the 3-point demand of its agitating students placed after the murder of their fellow Abrar has been fulfilled.

“We are withdrawing our ongoing movement as our 3-point demands are met by the authorities,” said Mahmudur Rahman Sayem, a 15th batch student of Buet’s Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department after a press conference at the foot of the Shaheed Minar of its campus here today.

The students declared to boycott all academic activities and had been holding movement for the past two months demanding justice for the killing of BUET student Abrar Fahad.

Calling off their movement, the student also thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she was remained concern in this regard from the very beginning.

Earlier, Abrar, a second-year student of EEE Department of BUET, died after he was brutally beaten allegedly by the students at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university in the early hours of October 7.

The students started movement afterwards and placed a 3-point demand to the authorities on November 14 last.
