Al Amin secures second gold for Bangladesh in SAG

KATHMANDU, Dec 3, 2019 (BSS)- Al Amin has won the second gold for Bangladesh in the karate men’s individual under-60 kg weight category of the ongoing 13th SA Games held on Tuesday at Nepal Karate Academy Satdobato Lalitpur.`

The athlete becomes the best in this event by beating his Pakistani rival Jafar by 7-3 points in the final.

Earlier, on way to the final, he beat his Nepalese counterpart Rajib by 7-5 points in the semifinal.

In his immediate reaction after winning the gold Al Amin talking to the press said: “I feel very proud as I able to bring the second gold for Bangladesh … with my own effort I have able to bring something for the country.”

Al Amin, who hails from Cumilla, said he feels very proud as he able to keep the national flag up in the foreign soil.

Earlier on Monday, Dipu Chakma made the nation proud as he won the first gold medal for Bangladesh in taekwondo event of the ongoing 13th South Asian Games by winning the taekwondo poomsae event 29-plus-year category.

Dipu scored 16.24 points, beating his rivals from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and Nepal to clinch the coveted gold medal.
