President for using Unified University Management Software in varsities

DHAKA, Nov 25, 2019 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today asked the ICT
Division, University Grants Commission (UGC) and University authorities to
take the effective measures to apply the Unified University Management
Software in the universities.

The head of the state came up with the directive while State Minister
for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak presented a concept paper on “Integrated
University Information Management Platform and Unified University Management
Software” before him at Bangabhaban here this evening.

President Hamid said the new app will play the key role in exchanging
and sharing the services among their students, teachers and all concerned,
Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told reporters.

By using this software, people would get their desired services within
shortest possible time. It will also help to reduce the cost and time as
well, he added.

Abdul Hamid hoped that the app would help to ensure the transparency and
accountability in university activities while service-seekers would get their
necessary services easily.

Giving a patient hearing to the concept paper presentation by the ICT
state minister, the President said, “Digital Bangladesh is not a dream now,
it is reality. People are taking 150 kinds of service from digital centres
across the country.”

He said some 10,500 entrepreneurs provide over 6.4 million services
every month while 36 million beneficiaries are availing of e-services.

President Hamid mentioned that over 150 including government, private
and international universities are running their academic activities in
Bangladesh at present. This software application will bring fruitfulness for
smooth functioning.

During the presentation, Palak apprised the President of different
aspects of the app, saying that all universities and stakeholders can collect
their necessary information within a very short time and easy way.

He also presented a report on the progress of building Digital
Bangladesh where he presented the activities taken for strengthening digital
service from 2009 to till date.

The programme was arranged with the support of Digital Service
Accelerator, a project of A2i under the ICT division of the ICT Ministry.

The ICT state minister also apprised the President of four pillars of
Digital Bangladesh… Standard Development, Internet for all, Digital
Government and Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Industry.

Senior Secretary of ICT division N M Ziaul Alam, Sampad Barua, Secretary to the President, Major General S M Shamim-Uz-Zaman, Military Secretary to the President and Chief Strategist, e-Governance of a2i, Focal point of Digital Service Accelerator Farhad Zahid Sheikh were present the programme, among others.
