Quader urges transport strikers not to sufferings of people

NOAKHALI, Nov 20, 2019 (BSS) – Road Transport and Bridges Minister
Obaidul Quader today urged transport owners and workers not to create
unstable situation in the name of strike as it caused immense sufferings of
the people.

“Transport owners and workers should not enforce such strike as it causes
immense sufferings for the people of the country,” he said while addressing
the triennial council of Noakhali district unit of Awami League (AL) as the
chief guest at Shahid Bhulu stadium of the district.

The Road Transport Act-2018 has been enacted to bring back discipline on
roads rather punishing people, he said.

Being failed to do anything on the onion issue, now a vested quarter is
hatching conspiracy over the transport laws, Quader said, adding:”I am
requesting transport owners and workers not to wage any movement to punish
city dwellers.”

About BNP, he said due to negative politics, they (BNP) are now losing
all their strong holds or bases, adding that they are now placing complaints
to foreign countries.

“They are seeking and begging loyalty roaming abroad. But it will not
work as our (AL) source of power is people. Any kind of provocation will not
bring any lucrative thing for them (BNP),” he added.

“Following facing horrible defeat in the last polls, BNP is now hatching
conspiracies against the government…BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman is
leading those conspiracies staying abroad,” Quader, also the AL General
Secretary of the ruling AL, continued.

The country has witnessed massive development under the dynamic
leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, adding “She is one of
the 10 most influential statesmen in the world.”

“Our premier’s integrity, hard work and commitment are the key to her
success, the minister said.

The council was addressed, among others, by Awami League Joint General
Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organising
Secretary and State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Deputy
Minister for Water Resources Enamul Haque Shamim, AL leader Mirza Azam and AL
Noakhali district unit general secretary Ekramul Karim Chowdhury.

Earlier, Quader inaugurated the council by hoisting national flag and
releasing pigeons as well as balloons.

Noakhali district AL President Professor Khairul Anam Selim presided over
the programme.

President of Sadar Upazila Awami League Advocate Shihabuddin Shaheen and
Municipality unit President Abdul Wadud Pintu jointly conducted the council.
