Voter enrolment service for NRBs begins in UAE

DHAKA, Nov 19, 2019 (BSS) – Smart NID card and voter enrolment services
for NRBs (non-resident Bangladeshis) have been launched at Bangladesh Embassy
in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen, who is now visiting the UAE with
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, inaugurated the service on Monday, a press
release said here today.

During the inauguration, the foreign minister said the new service which
is being provided at the doorsteps of the expatriates will reduce hassles for
them.

“The provision of Smart NID card service was a long felt expectation of
Bangladesh nationals in the UAE,” the minister said.

Different digitized services are being extended to Bangladesh
expatriates, including 24 hour HotLine, set up at the missions and the
ministries concerned, he said, adding foreign ministry has also recently
launched Dutabash application to provide different services to the NRBs.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken the initiative to expand the base
of services to be provided to Bangladesh expatriates, he added.

Momen encouraged Bangladesh expatriates to send more remittance as the
government is providing lucrative incentives to the remittance senders, said
a foreign ministry press release received here today.

The foreign minister urged the expatiates for their active participation
in celebrating the centennial of the birth of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to be held in 2020 and the 50th anniversary
of the Independence of Bangladesh.

The Director General (NID), National Election Commission, officials of
the foreign ministry and a good numbers of expatriate Bangladeshi were
present.
