960 Gaibandha flood affected farmers get agri inputs free

GAIBANDHA, Nov 17, 2019 (BSS) – A total of 960 flood affected small and
marginal farmers of Sundarganj upazila in the district got high quality
mustard seed and fertilizers free of cost under government’s agri incentive
programme.

Upazila agriculture office distributed the agri inputs to them to recoup
the losses of crops caused by recent floods.

Each of the farmers received one kg of mustard seed, 20-kg of Di-ammonium
Phosphate (DAP) and 10-kg of Muriate of Potash (MoP).

A simple function was held on the premises of Farmers’ Training Centre of
the upazila town on Saturday afternoon on the occasion.

Local lawmaker Barrister Shameem Haider Patwary, upazila chairman M.
Ashraful Alam Sarker Lebu, assistant commissioner (Land) Russel Miah, and
officer-in-charge of Sundarganj Police Station SM Abdus Sobhan were present.

The lawmaker in his speeches said the government led by Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for overall development of the
farmers since 2009.

The government stood by the flood affected small and marginal farmers of
the upazila with crop seed and chemical fertilizer to help them to recoup
losses caused by natural calamity.

He also urged the farmers to sow the seed on the suitable land during the
current Robi season and nurture the crop field properly like their own
children to get desired output.

Later, the farmers were provided with agri inputs.

Upazila level officials, local public representatives and journalists were
present on the occasion.
