DHAKA, June 2, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister, Obaidul Quader today said investigation into the killing of Teknaf ward councilor Ekramul Haque is being continued and none would go unpunished if Ekram is proved innocent.

“If Ekram is found innocent, the persons involved in the incident will be brought into justice,” the minister said while inaugurating “Dolochapa AC (air conditioned) bus service for women passengers” at Bangabandhu International conference Centre (BIIC) at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, here.

Ekram, a ward councillor of Teknaf municipality and local Awami League leader, was killed in a “gunfight” between the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the drug peddlers in Cox’s Bazar on May 28.

Replying to a query about the audio record centering the killing incident published recently, Quader categorically said, “Investigation into the matter is going on. . . I firmly believe that everything will come out clearly after the probe ends.”

The minister confidently said the government would take action if any innocent people become the victims of the ongoing drive on narcotics.

Quader mentioned Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s clear declaration in this connection that stern action is a must if anyone stages a “sale drama of narcotics substance” against anybody.

“People across the country are providing all-out support to the drive,” he added.

The minister confidently said no culprits will be given any concession during the ongoing drive.
