Bangladesh thrashes Hong Kong in Emerging Asia Cup

DHAKA, Nov 14, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh made a flying start to their Emerging Teams Asia Cup journey, crushing Hong Kong by nine wickets at BKSP cricket ground on Thursday.

Pacer Sumon Khan and batsman Soumya Sarkar led the facile victory, showing a superb bowling and batting display.

Sumon Khan claimed 4-33 as Hong Kong were restricted to 164-9 in the stipulated 50 overs after Bangladesh emerging team skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto sent the tourists in batting.

Bangladesh made the chase a cakewalk, reaching the target in just 24.1 overs. Opener Naim sheikh started off where he left off at India. He scored 52 runs. Soumya Sarkar is the highest scorer for the side with 84 not out off 74 delivers and finished the innings. Nazmul Hossain Shanto was the other 22 not out batsman.

Soumya struck nine fours and three sixes in his match-winning knock.

Hong Kong’s Ehsan took the only wicket

Bangladesh bowlers bowled in the right channel in the morning with some help from the pitch dismissing Hong Kong to a paltry total. For Hong Kong Haroon Arshad scored 35 runs and Aiyaz Khan scored 25 runs.
