Spontaneous tax payment stressed to build a developed nation

RANGPUR, Nov 13, 2019 (BSS) – High officials at a function here today
have stressed on inspiring all eligible citizens for spontaneous payment of
income tax to build a developed Bangladesh for the next generations.

They opined this at the function arranged for distribution of citations
and crests among 56 highest taxpayers of six districts and Rangpur City
Corporation (RpCC) under Taxes Zone of Rangpur in four categories on behalf
of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).

The Office of the Tax Commissioner of Taxes Zone-Rangpur organised the
function at Zila Parishad Community Centre before holding the week-long
Income Tax Fair-2019 on the same venue from tomorrow (Thursday) in the city.

Acting Mayor of Rangpur Mahmudur Rahman Titu as the chief guest
distributed citations and crests among highest taxpayers in the function
presided over by the Tax Commissioner for Taxes Zone-Rangpur Md. Abdul Latif.

Member (International Tax) of the NBR Arifa Shahana, Deputy Inspector
General for Rangpur Range Police Devdas Bhattacharya, President of Rangpur
Chamber Mostafa Sohrab Chowdhury Titu, President of Rangpur Women Chamber
Anwara Ferdousi Poly, President of Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber Rezaul Islam
Milan and President of Taxes Bar Association of Rangpur Advocate Masum Khan
addressed as special guests.

Additional Tax Commissioner of Taxes Zone-Rangpur Sheikh Md.
Moniruzzaman welcomed the 56 highest taxpayers of Rangpur, RpCC, Dinajpur,
Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari districts.

The speakers discussed enormous significance of tax payment putting
importance on innovating newer ways to inspire able citizens in paying income
taxes to further accelerate national development.

Arifa Shahana said the tax payment method has been made easier through
modernisation of tax fixation method adopting digitised facilities to make it
more realistic with change in mindsets of officials concerned to increase
revenue collection.

“If all bigger, medium and small-scale taxpayers would pay income taxes
spontaneously, the national economy would be strengthened further completely
eradicating reliance on foreign loans for conducting national developments”
she mentioned.

The chief guest urged officials concerned to inspire eligible citizens
in paying income taxes availing the facilities being provided by the
government through the NBR to further accelerate the pace of national
development.

Congratulating award winner taxpayers, Abdul Latif lauded contribution
of taxpayers to further strengthening national economy and accelerate
progress for building a middle income nation by 2021, developing country by
2024 and developed Bangladesh by 2041.
