DHAKA, Nov 12, 2019 (BSS) – Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul
Quader today warned that the country’s people would not show mercy to those
who make derogatory remarks on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“The nation will not forgive those who make derogatory remarks over
Bangabandhu and his daughter Sheikh Hasina,” he told a conference of Dhaka
North City Unit of Awami Sechasebok League at Krishibid Institution
Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium in the capital.
Speaking as the chief guest, Quader, also the Awami League General
Secretary, said Sheikh Hasina is the most popular leader in Bangladesh and
that is why if someone makes derogatory comments on Bangabandhu and her
daughter (Sheikh Hasina), it hurts the sentiment of the country’s many
people.
Conspirators are still out to hatch intrigues against her, he said, adding
many have been making derogatory remarks on Sheikh Hasina, which would not be
tolerated as such remarks destroy political atmosphere in the country.
The Awami League general secretary said the nation knows about the
sacrifice of Nur Hossain in democratic struggle, but many people have also
been making derogatory comments over him.
About the assassination of Bangabandhu, he said BNP could not avoid the
responsibility of the August 15 carnage as its founder Ziaur Rahman ensued
the safe passage of the Bangabandhu’s killers in fleeing the country.
Ziaur Rahman awarded the killers by providing them with jobs in Bangladesh
missions abroad, Quader said, adding the Zia proclaimed the indemnity
ordinance restricting trial of the killers of the August 15 carnage.
Issuing a warning to AL leaders and workers about the ongoing cleanliness
drive, he said: “Do not make quarrel in the party. We will do the politics of
ideology. We are the followers of Bangabandhu and that is why we will not
make any derogatory remark on any one.”

Mubassher Chowdhury, the conference was addressed, among others, by AL
organising secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Sechasebok League vice-president
Matiur Rahman Moti and convener of the conference preparatory committee
Nirmal Ranjan Guha.
