Govt working to establish digital one-stop centers: Tajul

DHAKA, Nov11, 2019 (BSS) – The government under the leadership Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working to transform the existing 150 digital centers into ‘one-stop service centers’, as her vision is to take all benefits of the city to the doorsteps of rural people.

This was stated by Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister Md Tajul Islam while addressing as chief guest at the ‘Innovation Talk on Digital Centers’ arranged by the Access to Information (A2i) in ICT Tower at city’s Agargaon today, said a press release.

Referring to the tendency of educated youths to be more inclined to migrate to the city to exploit civic amenities, Tajul said, “They will be able to avail the facilities without leaving their homes and connect with the whole world with a laptop or computer through the digital centers”. He said that the one stop digital service centers will provide people with every help and opportunity they need and will ease up the process of receiving digital services. State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak was also present at the event, added the released.

“A total of 5,865 union digital centers have been established across the country till now… The initiative was praised, globally and the centers were recognised as an example of delivering services of the government to the people among the countries of the world”, Palak said.

Senior secretary of the ICT division NM Ziaul Alam, secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed, project director of A2i Dr Md Abdul Mannan were also present, among others, at the event.
