RANGPUR, Nov 11, 2019 (BSS) – The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) distributed special agriculture incentives in terms of seed and fertilisers among 3,460 small and marginal farmers of Dimla upazila in Nilphamari on Sunday afternoon.
The agriculture incentives were distributed under the Agriculture Incentives Program-2019 at a function held at Dimla upazila parishad office premises to assist the beneficiary farmers of all 10 unions of the upazila in cultivating various crops this season.
Member of the Parliament from Nilphamari-1 constituency Md. Aftab Uddin Sarker distributed the incentives in the function as the chief guest with Dimla Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mosammat Nazmun Nahar in the chair.
Chairman of Dimla upazila freedom fighter Tabibul Islam, Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Shahidul Islam, Upazila Jute Development Officer Mohibur Rahman Lohani and Sadar union Chairman Abul Kashem Sarkar addressed as special guests.
Dimla Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Md. Sekendar Ali discussed objectives of distribution of incentives allocated by the government to assist small and marginal male and female farmers of Dimla upazila in cultivating crops on one bigha of land each.
Under the program, the chief guest distributed 2-kg maize seed, 10-kg of Muriate of Potash (MoP) and 20-kg Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer among each of the 2,300 beneficiary farmers for cultivating maize on one bigha of land each.
Each of the 600 beneficiary farmers got 20-kg wheat seed, 10-kg MoP and 20-kg DAP fertilizer while 350 farmers received one-kg mustard seed, 0-kg MoP and 20-kg DAP fertiliser for farming the crops respectively on one bigha of land each.
Under the program, 100 farmers got 5-kg winter mungbean seed, 10-kg MoP and 10-kg DAP fertiliser while 80 farmers received 5-kg summer mungbean seed, 10-kg MoP and 10-kg DAP fertilisers.
Besides, the chief guest distributed one-kg onion seed, 10-kg MoP and 10-kg DAP fertilisers among each of the 30 beneficiary farmers of Dimla upazila for cultivating onion on one bigha of land each on their lands.
On the occasion, the chief guest suggested the small and marginal farmers to make best use of the agriculture incentives allocated by the government free of costs in cultivating various crops on their land this season.
