Shanto to lead Bangladesh in Emerging Teams Asia Cup

DHAKA, Nov 10, 2019 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday announced a 15-member Bangladesh team for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup, slated to begin on November 14 in four venues across the country.

Nazmul Hossain Shanto is appointed as the captain of the team which included five current national team members, who are playing in three-match T20 series against India which will conclude this evening.

The five members-Mohammad Naim Sheikh, Afif Hossain, Aminul Islam Biplob, Soumya Sarkar, Abu Haider Rony will join the team from India (Monday).

Bangladesh is drawn in Group B in the tournament that included India, Hong Kong and UAE while the Group A comprised with Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Oman.

In the opening day four matches will be held with Sri Lanka taking on Oman at Cox’s Bazar Academy while Pakistan face off Afghanistan in Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar.

India will take on UAE at BKSP-3 and hosts Bangladesh will lock horns against Hong King at BKSP-4 ground.

These four grounds will be used for the group phase matches but Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur, will host the two semifinals and final. The final is on November 23.
