NEW DELHI, Nov 09, 2019 (BSS) – The Indian Supreme Court will deliver its
judgment in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case in Ayodhya
today, paving the way to solve the decades’ long uncertainty on the issue.

A five-judge constitution bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief
Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, is scheduled to deliver the verdict at
around 10.30 am today, according to a notice put up on the official website
of the Supreme Court on Friday evening.

The bench that also comprised of justices SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok
Bhushan and SA Nazeer had wrapped up a marathon 40-day hearing in the case on
October 16 by reserving its judgment.

Massive security measures have been undertaken in Ayodhya to avert any
untoward incidents centering the verdict although Prime Minister Narendra
Modi has appealed to all concerned to maintain peace and harmony.

“The verdict will not be someone’s loss or victory. I appeal to countrymen
to ensure that the tradition peace, unity and harmony in the country is
upheld,” he tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan have also asked party leaders not
to issue provocative statements.

Across Uttar Pradesh, Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code — which
prohibits the gathering of more than three people at a time — was imposed,
news agency ANI reported.

All schools and educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya
Pradesh, Jammu and Karnataka will remain closed today over the Supreme
Court’s judgment in the Ayodhya temple-mosque title suit.
