DU VC for bolstering Bangladesh-China ties in different fields

DHAKA, Nov 8, 2019 (BSS) – Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor
Professor Dr Md. Akhtaruzzaman has stressed the need for further bolstering
bilateral ties between Bangladesh and China in different fields including
education, research, trade, economy and culture.

“An excellent friendly relationship between Bangladesh and China has
been prevailing for a long time and the two countries could further
strengthen the ties in the fields of education, research, trade, economy and
culture,” he said.

The DU vice-chancellor expressed the view when Chinese Ambassador to
Bangladesh Li Jiming paid a courtesy call on him at his residential office on
Thursday, a DU press release said today.

The Chinese envoy was accompanied by some other high officials from his
embassy.

At the meeting, Prof Akhtaruzzaman apprised the envoy of a brief history
of Dhaka University and recalled its outstanding contribution to different
democratic movements including the Liberation War in 1971 and Language
Movement in 1952.

The ambassador congratulated Prof Akhtaruzzaman on his reappointment as
the vice-chancellor of Dhaka University by presenting a bouquet to him.
