SANGSAD BHABAN, Nov 7, 2019 (BSS) – Prime Minister and Leader of the House
Sheikh Hasina today paid glowing tributes to learned parliamentarian and valiant freedom fighter Moinuddin Khan Badal, saying that his death has created a huge vacuum in the country’s politics.

“Badal alaways believed in non-communal spirit as well as peace and harmony
and his death has created a big vacuum in the political arena of the country,” she said while participating in an obituary reference on the death of the veteran lawmaker.

The premier said Badal had an active role in all democratic and progressive
movements like the great liberation war, anti-Ayub movement, the six-point movement and the movement for demanding withdrwal of Agartala conspiracy case.

Recalling his participation in parliament, the Leader of the House said when
he used to deliver speech in the Jatiya Sangsad it imprinted in the mind of all as he used to speak in the House very strongly on every issue.

“He was also very active for the development of his constituency,” the
premier said.

Sheikh Hasina said Badal was an active worker of Chhtra League since his
student life and he joined Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) after independence.

“When we formed alliance, Badal was active in it and I had a scope to work
with him together in movement, struggle, streets and parliament,” she said.

The prime minister said the parliament member from Chattogram played a strong
role in political thinking, spirit and prudence. “It’s very unfortunate for us that we could no more listen to his strong voice,” she said.

Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed
profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

Badal, the executive president of a faction of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), passed away at a hospital in Bengaluru in India this morning at the age of 67.

He was elected lawmaker several times from Chattogram-8 constituency.
