Two drug-peddlers killed in Rajshahi gunfight
RAJSHAHI, June 1, 2018 (BSS)- Two alleged drug-peddlers were killed in a
gunfight between members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and their cohorts in
Karamja area under Paba upazila of the district last night, RAB sources said
here this noon.
The deceased were identified as Belal alias Belal Hossain, 40, son of
Kaser Ali Mondal of Bargachhi village and Nazmul Haque, 35, son of Harun-Or-
Rashid of Mollapara village under the upazila.
Major AM Ashraful Islam, company commander of RAB-5, said the “gun battle”
ensued around 11.15 pm when a special team of the RAB went on drive against
drugs in the area.
After the “gun battle”, the RAB team found the two men lying there with
sustaining bullet injuries as the law enforcers fired on them for self-
defence.
They were taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where attending
doctors declared them dead after a few minutes of admission.
Major Ashraful Islam said six cases were pending against each of them with
different police stations in Rajshahi and Sirajgonj districts.
The operation team recovered three kilograms of ganja, one foreign-made
pistol and some other materials from the place of occurrence, the RAB officer
added.
